Community involvement

As the proud father of six children, Jean Houde is always concerned with the community well-being.


Since 2001, Construction Jean Houde contributes to the West Island Women’s Shelter. Construction Jean Houde now even solicits its sub-contractors and suppliers for the Shelter. The result: up to $69,530 have been donated since 2003.

New event in 2007: Construction Jean Houde and famous artist Bernard Séguin Poirier are getting involved in a partnership for the creation of an original art piece for the profit of the Ste-Justine hospital in Montreal.

Jean Houde also participates in events organised by Leucan, the Charles Bruneau foundation and the West Island Community Share. In 2005, Jean Houde acted as honorific co-president for the «Evening of Gastronomy» organized for the profit of the West Island Community Share. 

 

New event in 2009: The Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau foundation helps maintain Quebec’s positioning and development in paediatric cancer treatment.This year, Lucie and I have decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the benefit of Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau foundation. With the collaboration of TVA television network, we were 14 participants plus 4 celebrities attempting to climb the highest summit in Africa. 

With all the encouragement and the generosity of customers, friends and suppliers we reached, on January 14th, 2009 at 4:00pm, the highest point of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro 5895m to improve the recovery chances of all these children.

NOMINATION NOTICE

The APCHQ elected Mr. Jean Houde (Construction Jean Houde Inc.) as President of the Board for 2009-2010 during its 48th annual general meeting held at Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau.

New in 2011: Construction Jean Houde has decided to join CO2R, a company which helps organizations and individuals to reduce or erase their carbon footprint by planting trees.

 

 In 2011, Jean Houde, for the purpose of raising funds for the Charles-Bruneau center of cancer research, participated in the ascent of the Machu Picchu, one of the most spectacular hikes in the world: the Inca Road offers the opportunity of a lifetime to walk on granite paths that are 500 years old.  The climbers reached the Inca lost city by the Door of the Sun “in tribute to the courage of children affected by cancer”.  Fourteen participants climbed to raise $252,000 to finance the research in paediatric oncology.
